BSH Admiral Console

Dragline Excavator Operator Console

The next-generation operator command and control-station for Heavy-industrial / mining equipment operation. Leveltec and D+I worked to design a console that is not just one of the most advanced consoles on the planet, it’s also one of the most comfortable and stylish. No longer are consoles to be viewed as simply industrial equipment - the Admiral Console shifts the nature of what a console should be. Leveltec sought a modern and innovative console design to interface their operators to the dragline excavator. A dragline excavator is a large machine used to unearth dirt and other materials from construction sites and mining areas. A dragline uses a large bucket strung between two towers with a wire rope. The bucket can be maneuvered and lowered down to collect earth and other materials. Dragline excavators operate 24/7/365: 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. With fully actuated dual floating consoles mounted on a swivel base, dragline operators can take command in both comfort and style with the Admiral Console.

Command the Earth.

The operations console rethought + designed from scratch, front to back.

Operator ergonomics is at the heart of this design. Admiral is a fully wrapped console with offset joystick mounting to allow the centreline of the joystick to be in the centreline of the armrest. Uniquely designed for ease of maintenance and for the reduction of failure modes, the console has a dedicated sealed electronics enclosure to house automation hardware. Small discrete conduits pass cables easily to the side consoles while still allowing the consoles to move. Each console has concealed hinges that allow the top cover to hinge back. This allows for easy service to parts and components that might need to be replaced. As an optional accessory the console control pedals can be mounted to the floating supports. Supports are solid and sturdy while also having all the adjustments needed. The cover housing hides all the brackets and sliders creating a simple, clean design. The support arms have full manual adjustability to support all leg lengths.

Beautifully Integrated.

Integrated controls + details that provide operators with additional comfort and support.

The Admiral features fully actuated floating consoles with a range of movement on every axis (forward, backward, inward, outward, up, and down), this enables any user to comfortably customise and adjust the console. Operators tend to work on long rotating shifts, for the little bit of extra support, the armrests can be adjusted to give that little bit of extra comfort. On each armrest are a set of easy-to-use environmental and ergonomic controls. On the right armrest is the console ergonomic control, and on the left armrest are the cabin environment controls. All consoles are fully customisable to meet the individual mining operators’ specifications and requirements. The console uses back-lit membranes to label the controls for easy reading in a dim-lit environment. Admiral is not just a console, for operators on long shifts it becomes a home away from home. Considerations of human factors led to the integration of numerous small delights, cup holders, personal stowage on each console, and USB charging points for other devices. Admiral puts the operator in control of the dragline excavator and their operator environment: fully integrated 4” stereo speakers can be found on each console arm, ensuring operators never miss a beat.

Infinitely configurable and customisable.

Optional accessory attachments + Personalised console settings.

The console supports 2x monitor attachments on each side of the console. The monitors are fully adjustable, height, tilt, and can swing around the console. The console and seat have the possibility to support personal memory functions for your personal seat and console position. This could be controlled via the monitors with the ability to save numerous positions for all operators. As the console is highly configurable to the operator’s preference a number of alternative joysticks can be used, which can also come with optional palm rest supports. The Palm rests incorporate a soft silicon pod for optimal ergonomic comfort.
