Bodd 3D Printer

The world’s quickest 3D printing designed for printing life-size human replicas in an efficient, eco-friendly manner.

Australian Start-up, Bodd was formed to disrupt global custom clothing through advanced 2D/3D scanning and 3D printing technology. Bodd and D+I have collaborated to develop and engineer a cheap + rapid 3D printer that enables designers to bring their customers to their place of creation without ever having to meet them face to face. Bodd provides an end-to-end online service enabling easy customer engagement, measurement, custom clothing ordering through to E-commerce platform licensing. Bodd has collaborated with leading universities to create an easy-to-use mass-market smartphone app that provides detailed body measurements and 3D body representations. Through advanced algorithms + neural networks, Bodd provides a cutting-edge solution to the ‘size problem’ faced by e-commerce and custom clothing market players.

A good fit for fashion and the planet.

Bosch partners with Aussie additive manufacturing startup (Bodd.io) on 3D custom clothing technology.

Bodd is an additive manufacturing venture from the founders of e-clothing brand - Tailors Mark - who specialise in custom-made, perfect-fit tailored suits & shirts). In early 2021, Bodd partnered with Bosch (Via the Bosch Australia's Manufacturing Solutions Group) to drive the enterprise into global markets.

Waste is a trillion-dolar problem, the current way of doing things is simply unsustainable from an environmental and economic perspective. The clothing industry is the second-worst most polluting sector in the world, next to the oil industry. Globally, the fashion industry is valued at 1.3 trillion (USD), is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions and, for using 20% of the world water supply. Over the past 15 years, Australian clothing purchases have increased by 60%, while a staggering 85% of all garments end up in landfill. Simply put, poor-fitting clothing accounts for too much waste. The key motivation behind Bodd Technology has been to provide access to affordable, more efficient 3D fitting technology, so that custom-clothing can become a global reality. Bodd technology directly tackles the issue of miss-sizing, which can account for 30 per cent of a retailer’s cost, and results in the destroying or incineration of countless garments around the world.

“With Tailors Mark, which specialises in custom made menswear, we were returning too many clothes because of inaccurate sizing and curvature from manual measurements... The primary focus of Bodd is in capturing very real, high-quality 'real' 3D body scans on mass, both at retail and remotely. Combined with Bodd 3D printers, clients can then rapidly produce duplicate customer mannequins at the point of manufacture using lightweight, biodegradable PLA materials... We didn’t invent 3D printing of course, but we did invent the fastest mannequin printers, and this aspect is very niche.” - Tim Allison (Executive Chairman, Bodd Technology)
