Design + Industry (D+I), is pleased to announce our collaboration with Navi Medical Technologies on securing a $2.3 million Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) grant. The grant will further the development of the Neonav® ECG Tip Location System (currently in development), a medical device aimed at accurately and non-invasively locating catheter tips in critically-ill newborns and children.

The Neonav® ECG Tip Location System addresses the need for improved accuracy and real-time feedback during and after catheter insertion procedures. Currently, the lack of such feedback results in high rates of misplacement and migration of central lines, posing risks and complications for young patients. By leveraging Navi's proprietary algorithm, the Neonav system will offer fast and precise location detection of central lines, allowing clinicians to deliver therapies more efficiently and safely.

The CRC-P grant will play a crucial role in supporting Navi Medical Technologies, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, the Royal Women's Hospital, and Design + Industry, in an upcoming pivotal clinical trial. The trial will generate essential data for FDA clearance and represents a significant step forward in bringing the Neonav device to market.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Navi Medical Technologies on this project," said Rod Wiebenga, Head of D+I Melbourne. "The CRC-P grant funding represents an endorsement of Navi's potential to enhance the standard of care for critically-ill newborns and children. Our shared vision of improving medical technologies and the lives of vulnerable patients drives our commitment to this partnership."

The CRC-P grant program, known for fostering innovation and strong partnerships between industry and research organisations, is highly competitive and evaluated by an independent committee of industry experts. Navi's success in securing this grant recognizes not only its potential to transform pediatric care but also acknowledges the collaborative efforts of multiple stakeholders dedicated to advancing medical technologies.

Shing Yue Sheung, Navi's Chief Operating Officer, expressed gratitude for the support and belief in Navi's vision: “The CRC-P grant funding will play a critical role in advancing our device's path to market, and highlights the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We are immensely grateful to our Project Partners for their support and belief in our vision of helping children live brighter, healthier futures."
